A) How do I register to use the library?

Fill out a registration form with your name and email address. Two options are available:

1. Online form - click here: Form. This option allows you to submit your information directly to our library staff.

2. Printed form - hard copies are available in the church sanctuary or office. You can hand in your registration form to church office.

After your information is submitted, our library staff will enter your name and email into the library database. Once your information has been added by church staff with a confirmation email, please go online COV Library to complete your registration. Follow these steps:

a.On the library website, click on the ‘Patron Login’ box on the left hand side of the screen. A dialogue box will pop up.

b.Click the ‘Need Password?’ link.

c.Enter your email address and click 'send email'. (Please note: the email address you enter must be the same email address provided on your registration form.) You will receive an email with a temporary password.

d.Go back to the library website and click the ‘Patron Login’ link again. This time, enter your email address and temporary password in the dialogue box and click ‘Sign In’.

e.You will be taken to your ‘Account Overview’ screen. Click ‘Edit Profile’. Please change your password to something that is easy for you to remember. (Please note: Church staff cannot recover lost passwords. You will need to reset your password again if it is lost).

f.In the ‘Notification Emails’ box, please make sure the ‘Receive Notifications’ box is checked if you would like to receive due date reminders.

g.Your account registration is complete. Click on "CHURCH" to view catalog

B) Can I browse the available titles or search for a specific book?

Yes. The library has a publicly viewable catalog available at COV Library. You can browse by title or by tag (subject).

To browse by title, simply click on a letter of the alphabet and a list will be displayed of all the books in the library that start with that letter. To browse by tag (subject), simply click on the ‘Tag List’ button in the right corner of the screen. A list of tags will be displayed. Scroll down to one that interests you. Click it and a list of books with that tag will be displayed.

Alternatively, you can search for specific authors, titles, or subjects/keywords in the search box at the top of the screen. Simply type in what you are looking for and hit ‘enter’ on your keyboard. A list of matching books will be displayed.

C) Okay, I found a book I want and it is available. How do I check it out?

Simply place the book on hold via the library website. (For specific instructions on how to hold a book, please see the next question). Your title will be paged by church staff and you will be able to pick the book up during church office open hours.

Tuesday - Friday, 9:00 am - 1:00 pm and Sunday 8:30 am - 12:30 pm

Church staff at office will check your book out to you. It will then show in the ‘Your Active Items’ box in your ‘Account Overview’.

On Sundays before and after service, the library may be open for browsing. During this time you may check out items in the library.

D) A book I want is checked out. Can I place it on hold?

 Yes, holds can be placed via the library catalog. Simply find the book you are interested in and click the ‘Add Hold’ button for that title. The title will be added to your hold queue. When you are ready, click ‘Complete’ and you will be prompted to enter your email and password to place the book on hold.

E) I placed a book on hold, but changed my mind. Can I cancel my hold?

Yes. Please login to your account. On the ‘Account Overview’ page, you will see a box labeled ‘Current Holds’. Simply locate the title you want to cancel, and click the ‘Release Hold’ button next to that title. You will be prompted to confirm your request by clicking ‘Release’ in the dialogue box that opens.

F) How many items can I have checked out?

 You may have a total of six (6) items checked out at one time. Of these, one (1) may be a DVD.

G) How long can I check out the books for?

Three weeks. You will receive a courtesy email reminder three (3) days before your books are due to be returned.

H) How can I renew my book after receiving a courtesy email that the book is due to be returned.

You can renew it for another three weeks. After logging in to your library account, click on "Account Overview" and locate the book you want to renew in the "Your Active Items' box . Click on the 'renew' box and the new due date will be displayed.

I) I can’t remember when my book is due. How can I find out the due date?

Please login to your account. The due date for each item you have checked out is displayed next to the title in the ‘Your Active Items’ box.

J) How do I return my books?

Please bring your items to return to the church office during open hours and church staff will check your items in for you.
